A 12 year old boy died today after riding the roller coaster at Disney's MGM Studios. The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is closed pending an inspection. The boy was stepping out of the coaster when he clapsed. The cause of his death is under investigation.
The Rock 'n' Roller coaster uses LIM technology to launch trains straight into the coaster elements. There is not a traditional lift hill.
This is a moderate intensity coaster and there are far more intense coasters around the United States. Disney World is not noted for dangerous or excessive G force coasters.
Sympathies go out to the family for their loss. This unfortunatly is another death for Disney World to have to deal with. Deaths have occured on other attractions this year. At this point all appear to be pre-exisiting condition related.
